NRM Debunks False Claims

The National Reformation Movement (NRM) has debunked false claims circulating in audios and publications alleging that Dr. Ibrahim Bangura is a sponsor and member of the NRM.

In a press statement, it noted that some misguided individuals have gone further to misrepresent the purpose of a recent meeting held by the movement in Masiaka, alleging it was convened to endorse Dr. Bangura.

The NRM maintained that it categorically condemns these malicious and baseless assertions. ‘’These acts are nothing short of an attempt to tarnish the reputation and integrity of the NRM, an institution built on unwavering principles of democratic reform and party unity,’’ the organization said.

The NRM further affirmed that since its inception in 2018, it has remained committed to one singular objective: the democratization of the APC, adding that their struggle was rooted in the rejection of the undemocratic selection clause entrenched in the 1995 constitution. It noted that it was a movement led by and for young people, standing against injustice and advocating for meaningful reforms. ‘’Ironically, some of the very young individuals within the party who opposed us in court and in the constitutional review process are now the ones clamoring for leadership, preaching inclusion, and youth empowerment, values they vehemently resisted,’’ the movement remarked.

The NRM maintained that Dr. Ibrahim Bangura is not and has never been a member or sponsor of the NRM. ‘’He was chosen by the erstwhile chairman and leader of the party to be a peace mediator between the NRM and the party. A position he earned through the party for his dedication and service to the party,’’ the NRM clarified.

The NRM further pointed out that it has not endorsed any aspirant for the 2026 National Delegates Conference (NDC).

‘’We support the democratic process of the APC and will rally behind any candidate who emerges victorious at the NDC,’’ the NRM said.

The movement made it abundantly clear that they reaffirm their loyalty to the APC and their unwavering resolve to ensure the right things are done. ‘’The NRM is here to stay, committed, focused, and standing firm for God and country,’’ the press statement concluded.
