In a bid to compliment and encourage hardworking pupils for their academic performance, the Old Edwardians Alumni Association has launched a scholarship scheme for outstanding Students.

The new scholarship scheme aimed at recognizing and supporting students who demonstrate exceptional academic performance and exemplary discipline.

In a formal unveiling ceremony held at the school premises, alumni members, school administrators, and students gathered to witness the unveiling of the initiative.

Speaking at the event, the Chairman, St. Edwards Secondary School Scholarship Programme, Augustine Thorpe, expressed the association’s commitment to giving back to the institution that shaped their lives.

“This scholarship scheme is our way of motivating the younger generation to strive for excellence in their studies and uphold the values that the school stands for. We believe that every child who works hard deserves a chance to succeed, regardless of their financial background,” he stated.

He further said the scholarship initiative will serve as motivation and that application forms will be available at the end of May, 2025, for students to apply with no cost attached. He concluded with a message of discipline and encouraged students to be hardworking and focus on their academic work.

In his response, a member of the Selection Committee, Edward A. Renner said the scholarship will be awarded annually to a selected number of students who rank at the top of their classes academically and their level of discipline and confidence in communication skills.

“As a member of the Selection Committee, we will ensure we vet all applications to ensure deserving students benefit from the scholarship scheme.” he stated.

The scholarship scheme is aimed at cushioning the financial burden of parents and designed to support the academic journey of the students by recognizing their hard work and providing financial assistance to help them achieve their educational goals.
