SLPHA Sets Record Straight
The Sierra Leone Ports and Harbours Authority (SLPHA) has categorically refuted as false and misleading, claims circulating on social media under the headline “Missing Container Scandal at Water Quay.”
According to the SLPHA, there is no record whatsoever of any missing container at the Queen Elizabeth II Quay, adding all consignments arriving at and exiting the port are electronically logged, tracked, and verified under the Authority’s strict monitoring and security protocols.
The publication’s suggestion that a container allegedly belonging to a relative of the SLPHA Director General, Yakuba Askia Bio, “vanished mysteriously” is entirely baseless, malicious, and misleading.
The public is therefore advised to disregard this misinformation, which intends to undermine the credibility of the SLPHA and its leadership. The Authority remains deeply committed to transparency, accountability, and the highest operational standards in port management.
The SLPHA in its press release stated that it wishes to reassure the public that no such incident has occurred, and that the port continues to operate efficiently, securely, and transparently under its robust digital tracking system.
