Over Legal Challenge on Election Dispute…

SLPP Suspends Two UK Members

The Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) has announced the suspension of two of its UK & Ireland members, Prince Kallon and Harry Moseray Caulker following their decision to pursue legal action against key figures within the UK& Ireland branch.

A statement released by the SLPP’s National Secretariat, signed by the National Secretary General Umaru Napoleon Koroma, details that the suspension stems from a county court action initiated by Kallon and Caulker in Central London against Ahmed Tejan-Sie, Chairman of SLPP UK& Ireland, Alhajie M. Jalloh, Financial Secretary UK& Ireland, and Yvonne King, Chairperson of the Council of Elders UK&Ireland.

The dispute centres on the organization of the SLPP UK&Ireland regional elections.

According to the release, the secretariat had, in a letter dated March 14, 2025, reminded Kallon and Caulker of their alleged violation of Article 2 (D), (1) (G) of the SLPP’s August 2020 constitution, and instructed them to withdraw the legal action, and seek internal dispute resolution.

Kallon and Caulker, however, responded on March 15, 2025, stating they would only withdraw the legal challenge if the Secretary-General provided written confirmation of the date for the UK&I regional elections and guaranteed that the elections would be overseen by a designated committee.

The secretariat reiterated, via text message, the importance of upholding the party’s constitution and respecting the authority of the National Chairman, who, according to the constitution, holds ultimate authority over regional elections.

“The secretariat has learned with disappointment that Mr. Prince Kallon and Harry Moseray Caulker proceeded with the legal action despite the advice and the subsequent warning that action would be taken against them if they did not comply,” the release stated.

As a result, the SLPP has invoked Article 2 (D1), 2E (485) of its constitution to suspend Kallon and Caulker’s membership. They have also been referred to the party’s disciplinary committee for further proceedings.

The two suspended members are instructed to refrain from representing themselves as SLPP UK&Ireland  members until the disciplinary process is concluded. The SLPP has also issued a public advisory, urging members and the general public to avoid engaging with Kallon and Caulker on matters related to the SLPP UK&Ireland region.
