Reports reaching this medium indicate that some thugs of the ruling All People’s Congress (APC) have threatened to kill one 18 – years old Ibrahim Sorie Koroma at 4 – Mile on the outskirts of Freetown, Sierra Leone, West Africa over a state land ownership dispute.According to our investigations, in the aftermath of 14th August 2017 devastating mudslide and floods at Mortemeh- Regent Village – Western Rural District that claimed over 1,000 lives, including whole families and communities and caused huge trail of destruction to properties, the Government of Sierra Leone promised to allocate state land to the survivors of the apocalyptic disaster at 4 – Mile.Almost month and a half after the disaster, on 25th September the government in fulfilling its promise after proper registration of survivors started allocating 2 town lots of land to each of the affected family survivors in order to relocate them to start a new life from scratch.Barely 3 months after the land had been plotted and distributed to the registered beneficiaries and some people were trying to develop their plot with support from some local and international NGOs, in late December that same year, thugs of the ruling APC Government started invading the place and threatening new inhabitants with all sorts of weapons like cutlasses, knives and locally made petrol bum to hand over the land and documents they possessed or being killed. Some of the survivors, out of fear fled 4- Mile altogether leaving behind their land and other possession like tarpaulin, zinc, sand, cement and other cooking utensils donated to them by the Sierra Leone Red Cross Society and other humanitarian organizations.According to reports, not all the mudslide and flood survivors were ready to relinquish the plot of land allocated to them by the government including 18 – years old Ibrahim Sorie Koroma and others, who lost his entire family to the August 14 disaster and was the only survivor. He decided not to give up his portion of land, because according to him, that is all he now has to restart his life with no other surviving family member of his left.He and others continue resisting the threats and harassment from the APC thugs, whom reports claimed were having the support of some senior APC officials including the Minister of Lands, Musa Tarawally and Sierra Leone Police, who sometimes covertly joined them in their raids. The desperate APC thugs who were behaving like stray dogs very close of the 2018 General Elections, according to eye witness account, on the night of January 5th 2018 raided the new settlement armed with cutlasses and patrol bum heading towards the defiant Ibrahim Sorie’s make-shift tent with the intention of finally killing him, but got a tip off from one local farmer who helped him escape before they could reach him. They reportedly destroyed his entire place including a tarpaulin and zinc structure he was living in and burnt down what was remaining with threats to pursue him any where he goes and finally kill him.Since that incident, nothing has been heard about Ibrahim as his whereabouts remains unknown with speculations rife that he could be on the run to save his life from those thugs getting support and protection from some senior ruling APC Government officials like the Minister of Lands, Musa Tarawally commonly known as “Thug Father”.More on the story in subsequent editions as we continue to monitor the situation and follow Ibrahim Sorie’s saga that has been hitting the headlines recently.
