Internal Affairs Minister Declares War

The Minister of Internal Affairs AIG Morie Lengor Esq informed journalists that his Ministry has declared irreversible war on lawlessness in Freetown.

He made this statement during the weekly press conference held on Tuesday 22 July, 2025, at the Ministry of Information and Civic Education Conference Room, Youyi Building Brookfields, Freetown.

Minister Lengor disclosed that as a Ministry they have created a Task Force to tackle lawlessness and Indicipline. He noted that forming a Task Force is one thing but when it comes to implementation that’s where the challenge hunts everyone.

He warned street traders to quit from streets as they are creating inconvenience for pedestrians to walk freely on the street. AIG (Rtd) Lengor touched on people who play loud music at the inconvenience of their neighbours.

‘’We have enforced the law over the years. This time round we will leave no stone unturned to tackle lawlessness,’’ Minister Lengor stated.

Deputy Inspector General of Police, Sahr Senesi said the police is always on constant daily patrols. ‘’We do patrols to sustain the gains we have made,’’ DIG Senesi said. He warned that drivers who are drinking under the influence alcohol if caught the law will take its cause.

DIG Senesi disclosed that so far they have cleared 23 streets in Freetown.

In his contribution, Director Road Safety Enforcement, Augustine Kaitongi said SLRSA has introduced mobile licence vehicle. He said clients who are ready to utilize this facility can call 844.

Augustine disclosed that the Ministry of Transport and Aviation has introduced mechanisn to determine the ages of all vehicles.
