PARLIAMENT COMMENDS NATIONAL REVENUE AUTHORITY ON REVENUE MOBILIZATION

The Public Accounts Committee of the Parliament of Sierra Leone on Wednesday 2/7/2024 at its hearing at Administrative Conference Hall of Parliament commended the National Revenue Authority for surpassing its revenue target for the first half of 2024. The Committee applauded the Commissioner General and her team for putting all mechanisms in place for not only reaching but surpassing their target for the first half of this year.
The NRA was before the PAC to chat a way forward regarding the settlement of payment of Withholding and other related Taxes levid on business enterprises by the Audit Service Report of 2021/2022.
Speaking to the issue, the Deputy Speaker of Parliament Hon.Ibrahim Tawa Conteh who also doubled as the Public Accounts Committee Chairman applauded the work of the Commissioner General and her team towards the enhancement of President Bio’s agenda in raising the much needed revenue for the development of the nation. “We highly appreciate your work in surpassing your revenue target”, Deputy Speaker commended.

In an exclusive interview with the Commissioner General of NRA, Madam Jeneba Bangura, she expressed profound delight over the commendation by Parliament on the work of NRA. She extended her thanks and appreciation to the entire staff of NRA for working assiduously towards the attainment of the Authority’s revenue drive. “We did not only meet our target, we surpassed it’, the elated commissioner said. Madam Jeneba Bangura further appreciated Parliament for its role in granting the Commission the mandate, courage and support to help raise the much needed revenue for the State .

She concluded by saying “The reward for good work is more work, and we are now driven to make sure that we handle and ready to face the second half of this year’s revenue mobilization”.

On the impression on the work of the PAC , the Commissioner General said she felt very proud of the work of the PAC based on the 2021/2022 Audit Reports. She said the NRA is currently working on the 2023 Audit Reports, and also looking forward to addressing all issues related to the Auditor General’s Reports. The erudite Commissioner General promised to improve on and curtail all shortcomings highlighted in the Audit Reports for both 2021 and 2022.
