“Please Fix Our Roads”:

Steward Street Residents Challenge SLRA

The residents of Steward Street community at Kroo Town Road in the western part of Freetown have expressed dissatisfaction over the Ministry of Works and Sierra Leone Roads Authority (SLRA) over the deplorable condition of road.

This is one of the pivotal roads linking Kroo Bay community, Kroo Town Road and Sanders Street. For the past years, the residents have not enjoyed any development that many may describe as transformative and refreshing.

Residents said the deteriorating condition of the road poses serious risks to motorists and passengers, pedestrians, kekehs and vehicles, which will also cripple the economic development of the country.

They also mentioned the accidents that have happened with bike riders and passengers which led to serious damage.

Mr. Cecil Maxwell, a resident of Steward Street, stated that the deplorable condition of the road has made life challenging for the people in the community to get access to transportation.

He said that before now, “we used to enjoy exquisite roads that do not disrupt our daily activities.” He also spoke about poor drainage systems during the rains, leading to more damage on the roads.
