Police Gets Training On Cyber Crime From Sky Vision College

Sky Vision College situated at the Wilberforce Community in the Freetown Municipality held their Press Briefing during the morning hours on Saturday 30th September 2023 at the college conference room to inform the public and the Government of Sierra Leone about their alliances with the Sierra Leone Police, where they offered to train and lecture over forty (40) police personnel on cybercrime.
The Sky Vision College of Digital Technology was officially opened by a group of business people from Indian. The college was opened at Wilberforce in Freetown, as a way of enhancing digital transformation in Sierra Leone and serves as an Information Technology Institution that would impact quality I C T knowledge to Sierra Leoneans.

The college offered courses such as Diploma in software engineering, Diploma in infrastructure management, and Diploma in digital marketing, Ethical hacking, Cybercrime and many other correspondent courses, to name but a few.
Several dignitaries attended the conference including Mr. Mohamed Sidiebay as the Head of Interpol, Mr. Ibrahim Lahai as the Commissioner of Police and Director of Crime Services, A S P Alpha Kamara and A S P Brima Kamara known as Media One.

According to the Director of the Sky Vision College, they are going to cover five modules to complete the year one curriculum, which includes the Basic of Information Technology, Microsoft Office Word, Microsoft Office Excel, Microsoft Office Power point etc., which will be expected to cover the year one training. He furthered that after learning these modules, one can be able to implement them to carry out his work and be able to gain access to the computer and discover more techniques using the Internet.
Moreover, according to the Commissioner of Police and the Director of Crime Service, who served as the representatives of the Inspector General of Police, Mr. Ibrahim Lahai, expressed satisfaction and admiration to the Directors of the Sky Vision College of Technology for this wonderful innovation that they are about to impart upon the Sierra Leone Police. He also said that the use of electronic devices on fraudulent act has been an issue of concerns, adding that the use of mobile phones was not long introduced, and this has been responsible for the difficulty faced in tackling the offenders, as there was nothing like cybercrime unit in the country then.

It was only after then, that they started to registered these crimes. He disclosed that they requested help from the Indian Government to assist them with training on cybercrime, and it was fortunately granted, when the Indian Government sent experts to train them, for which they will always remain thankful.
Against this backdrop, he pleaded with the Sierra Leone Police staffs who were undergoing the training to put all seriousness and efforts in the training.
The conference was climaxed by the acting head of training, D S P Alpha Kamara, who also expressed gratitude to the administration of the Sky Vision College for their relentless effort in educating citizens of Sierra Leone. He also expressed gratitude to Mr. Sidiebay for his support.
