‘No ‘Cocaine’ Container Left Freetown for Nigeria’
The Director General of the Sierra Leone Ports and Harbors Authority, Yankuba Askia Bio during an engagement with the media and civil society organizations declared that the Sierra Leone Ports and Harbors Authority has no involvement in the alleged container found with cocaine in Nigeria.

He urged journalists and representatives of the civil society to refer to the press release issued by the authority on November 14th, 2025.
In another development, he disclosed that the Authority is now ranked as the fastest-growing port in the world after recent assessments on Ports globally.

DG Bio further said that the Port of Freetown has also been listed among the safest in the world, giving confidence to bigger vessels to sail at the Freetown port.
He also reported on the increase in vessel traffic, the creation of 200 jobs for young people since he assumed office, and the increase in revenue generation.
