President Bio Extols CTC’s Responsible Mining

The Bintumani Conference Center in Freetown was alive with excitement as stakeholders from across Sierra Leone’s mining industry gathered for the 10th edition of Mining Week, held from April 8 to 10, 2025. Among the standout moments of the summit was the endorsement given by His Excellency President Julius Maada Bio to Consolidated Trading Company (CTC), a rising player in the country’s mineral sector.

In his keynote address, President Bio praised the efforts of companies that demonstrate commitment to responsible mining, economic contribution, and community development. Notably, he singled out CTC for its forward-thinking approach and alignment with the government’s vision for sustainable mining.

“Consolidated Trading Company is a symbol of the new direction we want for our mining industry,” President Bio declared. “They have shown dedication not only to economic returns but also to environmental sustainability and community empowerment.”

CTC’s representatives received the recognition with pride, stating that the company remains committed to ethical practices, local content development, and transparent operations. The company has recently expanded its presence in Sierra Leone’s mineral-rich regions, working closely with local communities to create job opportunities and improve infrastructure.

The President’s endorsement is seen as a major milestone for CTC, positioning the company as a trusted partner in the country’s mining transformation.

The Mining Week 2025, was organized by the African Downstream and Precious Association (ADPA), brought together international investors, policymakers, and mining experts. Key discussions included regulatory reforms, green mining technology, and the importance of traceability in mineral exports.

With companies like CTC gaining national recognition and the government reaffirming its reform agenda, Mining Week 2025 ended on a hopeful note—one that promises a future where mining works for all Sierra Leoneans.
