All across Freetown and the corridors of power, one question keeps coming up with regards President Bio’s recent appointments.
The people have said that while they feel that the president has made some sound appointments this term, they still feel like he should do more for the indefatigable Robert Kondema Kargbo.
The great civil society activist and friend of President Julius Maada Bio is presently a Commissioner at NaTCA, which people in the know have said should have been given a cabinet level position.
‘Mr Kargbo has been a longstanding friend and supporter of Mr Bio’s. We feel like with this New Direction regime of the young and able, the president should definitely raise the commissioners profile to a cabinet level position,’ said supporters of the affable Robert Kondema Kargbo.
It must be recalled that the very friendly Mr Kargbo is well known and like across the political divide. He is the kind of person that the president can use as a go-between, especially with our present state of affairs between the SLPP and APC parties.
According to his friends in the APC, ‘Robert will be indispensable to the president’s peace overtires to the opposition. As a civil society activist working with the disabled, he more than showed his love and passion for the downtrodden. We know Robert to be a man of the people. He is a staunch SLPP activist, but also a sound national patriot. Julius is a highly educated and multi-skilled professional with 26 years working experience in both the private and public sectors in various leadership, management and technical roles in the Ukraine, United Kingdom (UK), Sierra Leone and Liberia.’
As a media personality, Mr Kargbo, as owner of the prestigious Heritage Newspaper is a friend of Mr Bio and the SLPP. Under the leadership of the compassionate Commissioner at NaTCA, Robert Kondema Kargbo, who is charged with the responsibility to supervise management and develop policies guidelines of the Authority has been duly invited in the nomenclature of Executive Editor of the aforementioned media outlet by Dala Africa to participate in Africa Smart and Sustainable Cities Investment Summit(ASCIS), slatted from 6th to 8th September 2023 at the Kigali Convention Centre, Rwanda.
The focal point of this all-important Summit is to invest in inclusive, smart and sustainable cities of the future. With such a sound background in media and advocacy, the grassroots supporters of the SLPP and other well-meaning folks have called on the president to consider Mr Kargbo for a cabinet level position in line with his second term New Direction regime.
