RADO SWARRAY BETRAYS PRESIDENT BIO – SLPP Grassroots

Information reaching Daybreak Newspaper from grassroots supporters of President Julius Maada Bio has alleged that the recently appointed Minister of Labour and Employment, Mohamed Rahman (Rado) Swarray betrayed President Julius Maada Bio in the worst way.

According to our sources in the SLPP, the president before the start of the official election’s campaign period gave a huge amount of money to the then Minister of Information to propagate the president’s campaign messages to the population.

Our informers said the president had intended for the minister to design campaign messages for television, radio, print and social media aimed at spreading his second term vision for the country.

‘But Mr Swarray reportedly used the money for his own personal gain. Who from the past five years can say they heard anything from the Ministry of Information when the media was having a field day with President Bio? The former Minister of Information was one of the people that the president was expected to drop this term. But for some reason despite what Rado reportedly did, the president reappointed him. It remains to see how things will turn out at Ministry of Labour after Rado is done with it,’ they said.

The men said because Minister Swarray was unsure of his continued tenure in the second term of the President Bio led government of Sierra Leone, the minister who was very quiet in the media, who rarely engaged the media for the past five years, was seen in a syndicated public relations style article in various newspapers tabulating his performance successes for the president to notice him.

Mr Swarray, our sources have said, was probably the worst performing minister from the last term because he failed to present a positive side or image of the government, adding that he allowed for the president to act as his own Minister of Information.

‘You also have to understand that despite how he let the president down under Rado the Ministry of Information was very quiet. SALCAB was unbundled under him, SLENA failed to be a government news agency and Sierratel fails to meet the demands and expectations of a growing and knowledge based society hungry for the latest information. Our fear now is that what will he do at the Ministry of Labour? In a country with a high unemployment rate what are we to expect from Minister Swarray when you consider that during the past regime he was not up to the task of his job at the Ministry of Information?’ they asked.

It is believed that the only reason Mohamed Rado Swarray was retained by President Bio was that he is an old time friend and supporter of the president. Known for being a loyal friend, our sources said they understand why the president retained Mr Swarray although they don’t see how he is going to vindicate himself at the Ministry of Labour having failed the president last term.

President Bio is reported to have blamed certain members of the PAOPA regime for their forceful rhetoric that presented him as a forceful instead of a caring leader. For his second term the president is widely expected to distant himself from the PAOPA ideology.
