Charles Koroma Escapes Death from Mob-Justice

Report reaching us that one Charles koroma, resident of Mellon Street, within the wellington community in the eastern part of Freetown, was suspected in a bisexual activities with his partner David. According to source, on the 10th of October 2015, Charles in the above mentioned name. Mr. Mustapha, a Muslim police officer who is Charles uncle, just after coming from work, he was in a meeting with elders within the community to strengthen Islam religion. After then a young man came were the meeting was held and called on Mr. Mustapha urgently and reveal a message to him that his nephew, Charles was caught red – handed in a same sexual activity with David, his partner at a back yard around the stream area within the community, by one young Islamic man who went to back yard to urinate. After then the Islamic young man raised an alarm about what he saw with his two eyes which is a taboo in the country and the two religion. Immediately after the message was convey to Mr. Mustapha, he was accompanied by elders and group of young people were they caught Charles and partner in sexual activity. Charles uncle known as Mr. Mustapha koroma a Muslim police officer in the community, unfortunately it was unbelievable for Mustapha and people in the community to know that his nephew, Charles is in the habit of bisexual which is a disgrace to the koroma family. According to community people and the koroma family, it is a surprise for them to know that Charles is a bisexual, because they normally saw Charles with some female friends.

Mr. Mustapha who is Charles uncle with other youth within the mentioned community beaten Charles and David his partner for over 30 minute until they were unconscious and live them hopeless in the street, because the religion of Mr. Mustapha which is Islam and his work is against bisexual activity. After two hours, an unknown Good







Samaritan people are passing through were the incident took place and saw Charles laying down hopeless. They picked him up at took him to the nearest hospital for treatment because he was discovered to be breathing, but unfortunately, his partner, David, is said to have been pronounced dead on the following day, which is the 11th

Of October 2015.

According to our source Charles is said to have suffered multiple injuries, but was responding to treatment.

Few days later after gaining consciousness, he was discharge and went to live with a friend in a nearby community. But his woes was compounded when news of his recovery reached residents of his former community, and on 25th October 2015, a group of youths, accompanied by his uncle again for the second time, stormed his hideout, captured him, and beat him again mercilessly. This time, they dumped him in a toilet pit, helpless.

It was revealed to our reporter that on the same night, Charles Koroma was rescued by an unknown Good Samaritan of the incident, who drew him out of the toilet pit with a rope. He has since left the area and his whereabouts are still unknown.

Our source furthered that Mr. Mustapha, police officer who is the uncle of Charles Koroma is a devoted Muslim who is against bisexuals, especially with regards to religious matters, and that the act of his nephew has been described as demonic by both religious faiths in the country.

According to residents in the community, Charles and David, thought to have been dead, were picked up by Good Samaritan. They furthered that it was a disgrace to have such individuals in their community, and that they deserve death, as same sex has been described as demonic,







satanic and should not be encouraged. Charles Koroma’s uncle and family turned down our request for an interview on grounds that it is disgraceful and will give glory to the devil.

Same sex in Sierra Leone is illegal and suspects caught in the act are often lynched by community youths or simply taken into the bush on the pretext of cleansing and are never seen again. The police often turn a blind eye to such reports.

As we go to press the whereabouts of Charles Koroma are still unknown.s
