In a spirited presentation during the Civic Day Series in Magburuka, Tonkolili District, the Minister of Sports, Augusta James-Teima, proudly highlighted Sierra Leone’s impressive sporting achievements for 2024 and 2025 — marking a golden era for the nation’s athletes.

2024 Achievements:

Sierra Leonean athletes dominated regional and international competitions, winning 8 Gold Medals in Karate, 1 Gold in Scrabble (Accra), 20 Gold in Gymnastics (Azerbaijan), Gold in Volleyball,

AFCON Qualification for the Under-20 Shooting Stars, and Gold in the Tour de Côte d’Ivoire Cycling Competition.

2025 Achievements:

The country’s sporting momentum continued as the Sierra Queens emerged champions of the WAFU-A Tournament in Mauritania, while the Female U-17 Team clinched victory in Liberia. The National.

Athletics Team also secured 4 Gold, 3 Silver, and 3 Bronze medals in Liberia.

Minister James-Teima further announced ongoing reforms, including the development of new National Sports, Gender, and Code of Conduct Policies, alongside a review of the National Sports Authority Act—a move aimed at strengthening governance and inclusivity in sports nationwide.
