Samu Chiefdom on Fire…

Residents Writes President Bio

Date: August 4th, 2025

To His Excellency,

We write to your Excellency with deep concern and utmost respect as citizens committed to peace and national cohesion. This letter serves to bring your attention to a persistent and escalating disputes between the communities of Koya and Khenfilee located in Samu Chiefdom, Kambia District.

Our village (Khenfilee) has been persistently invaded by the indigenes of Koya Town people claiming right of ownership over our land for about a period of give (5) years now. The conflict which is primarily over land ownership and Chieftaincy rights between our village (Khenfilee) and Koya town people has recently intensified resulting in heightened tensions, the disruption of communal activities and in some instances, threat to life and property. Several mediation efforts at the local and district levels have failed to yield a lasting resolution and the situation now threatens to escalate into another serious violence if not urgently addressed.

Your Excellency, considering your Government’s strong commitment to peace building, national unity, and the rule of law, we humbly appeal for your direct intervention in facilitating a sustainable and impartial resolution to this matter. It is our sincere hope that your office will consider initiating a high-level mediation process or tasking relevant state institutions to ensure that justice, peace, and stability are maintained.

We remain confident in your leadership and trust that this matter will be given the urgency it deserves in the interest of national peace and development.

May God continue to bless and guide Your Excellency in your service to our beloved nation? Enclosed herein are copies of videos and photos showing the impact of the ongoing dispute on our people?

Yours faithfully

Saidu A. Turay
