The Minister of Employment, Labour and Social Security, Mr. Mohamed Rahman Swaray, has bid farewell to 20 Sierra Leonean women who will depart for jobs in Saudi Arabia today, 20th October, 2023.
This is the first batch of Sierra Leoneans who will leave the shores of Sierra Leone under the Saudi-Musaned Labour Migration Programme, since the reinstatement of Sierra Leone on the Gulf State’s Migration Portal.

It could be recalled that the Government of Sierra Leone signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Government of The Kingdom of Saudi Arabi in June 2022, for the recruitment and deployment of migrant workers from Sierra Leone to Saudi.
After a rigorous assessment of our licensed Private Recruitment Agencies and medical facilities in the country, Saudi’s Embassy, located in Conakry, Guinea, accredited four Licensed Private Recruitment Agencies and three medical centers to carry out recruitment and medical examinations for prospective labour migrants to the Gulf State.
One of those accredited agencies, The Human Resources Global Consultancy SL Ltd (HRG), has prepared twenty young women who will be deployed in Saudi on a two-year employment contract each.
At a pre-departure engagement yesterday, the Labour Minister congratulated the women for going through the rigorous recruitment process.

He admonished them to uphold good moral values in their jobs and to be diligent in carrying out their assigned tasks.
He warned them against involvement in anything negative, no matter how minor they may think it is.
“You are going out there as ambassadors of Sierra Leone. You are our first batch, represent us well. You are the ones who will either open more doors for fellow Sierra Leoneans or close the labour migration doors permanently,” he told them.
The Minister assured them of their safety, adding that the government has got their backs. He said that the Sierra Leone Embassy in Saudi will always follow up on their progress and welfare.
