The Sella Development for Education Progress (SeDEP), in partnership with Leone Rock Mining Company, hosted an engaging and educational quiz and debate competition for secondary schools across the Sella Limba Chiefdom.

The event took place at the Kamakiwa Plaza Hall, drawing students, teachers, and community members together to celebrate the spirit of learning and intellectual growth.
In his keynote address, Mr. Ansuma, a representative of SeDEP, emphasized the critical role such initiatives play in fostering educational development, promoting healthy competition, and building collaborative relationships amongst schools. “This competition is more than just a platform for debate and quizzes. It is an investment in the future of our youth and the progress of our chiefdom,” he remarked.

The competition featured participation from four schools: Government Model Secondary School; Kamakiwa Westleny Secondary School; Saint Peter’s Secondary School; Christ Solution Secondary School
The highlight of the event was the spirited debate session, where students showcased their critical thinking and public speaking skills. Kamakiwa Westleny Secondary School emerged victorious, securing first place in the debate, while Saint Peter’s Secondary School took second place position. The quiz competition also saw fierce competition, reflecting the students’ dedication and preparation.
The organizers were lauded for its organizational and impactful event while many attendees expressing appreciation for SeDEP and Leone Rock Mining Company’s commitment to education in the region. “By empowering young minds through such platforms, the organizers hope to inspire a new generation of leaders and innovators in Sierra Leone,’’ one of the organizers said.
SeDEP pledged to continue hosting similar initiatives, reinforcing its mission to improve education and create opportunities for the youth in the Sella Limba Chiefdom.
