Shankerdas and Sons Supports Wellington Residents

Honoring their Social Corporate Responsibility (CRS), the management of G-Shankerdas and Sons SL Ltd through their Community Development Action Plan (CDAP) has donated building materials in supporting pavement of the Palm Bridge Market, Conton Street, Abucombo Junction, Wellington community in Eastern Freetown.

In his statement, the Honourable Member of Parliament for Constituency 115 who hosted the company, Lawyer Bah commended the Company as he presented the donated building materials worth over 13 M, three hundred Ninety Leones (NL13, 390) to community stakeholders.

He stated that he wasn’t a minister of works but through his efforts and commitment to his constituent, he is always creating connections to deliver to his people.

He maintained that, G-Shankerdas and Sons (S /L ) Ltd is one of the leading companies in his community that is very much passionate in promoting his community development programs.

The MP said that the company is always to working collaboratively to promote community development programs.

He also emphasized on the company’s commitment to pay taxes to the government of Sierra Leone as a way of boosting government revenue generation efforts.

“If the returns are big, the community should expect big, and if the returns are small, the community should also expect small because the company is using huge amount of money in the tune thousands and millions of dollars to import raw materials,’’ he told his audience.

He encouraged the entire community not to get any issue an with the company but to work collaboratively to gain more from the company through employment opportunities.

In her brief statement, Councilor Isata Lee Sesay said it was great opportunity by company that has been existing in Sierra Leone for many years.

She commended the efforts displayed by community youths to enhance development and thanked the management for its humanitarian gesture extended to her community.

She encouraged youths to unite and see themselves as community stakeholders and partners in development.

The Company’s representative Mr. Jombla received thanks and appreciations from community stakeholders, where he responded by encouraging the community to continue working with the company in good faith, peace and unity as the company is always committed to supporting community development initiatives.
