Attending the Freetown Terminal Board Meeting in Puteaux, France, as the first elected Director General of the Sierra Leone Ports and Harbours Authority (SLPHA) to serve on the Board was a distinct honor. The year 2024 marked a historic milestone for Sierra Leone’s port, achieving unprecedented productivity since its inception in 1964. This success is a testament to our unwavering dedication to progress.
The deliberations have been centered on fortifying security, boosting productivity, and advancing infrastructure to ensure sustainable long-term growth. Notably, the SLPHA has been recognized as the top performer in the Ministry of Transport and Aviation’s performance assessment for the first and second quarters of 2024, achieving a 63% total score.
Additionally, the commitment to digital transformation has led to significant improvements in operational efficiency. The transition from manual paper-based systems to modern electronic frameworks, supported by €64,000 in partner funding, has been pivotal in this journey.
As we look to the future, we remain committed to fostering growth and innovation within Sierra Leone’s maritime sector.
