-Chief Minister Asserts
The Chief Minister, Dr. David Moinina Sengeh has declared that under the Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) it has outshined the previous All People’s Congress (APC) party. This statement is sure to trigger debate among social commentators across the nation.
During a public address on national infrastructure, the Chief Minister emphasized the government’s extraordinary achievements in road construction, an area he believes is vital for the nation’s economic and social progress.
“In just seven years, we have built more roads than the APC government did in 11 years,” the Chief Minister said, making it clear that under the SLPP’s leadership, the country’s road network has seen substantial growth. “While the former government only completed 432 kilometers of roads over 11 years, we have already surpassed that, with 442 kilometers completed in just seven years. And we are far from done.”
The Chief Minister stressed that road construction is not just about laying asphalt but about laying the foundation for national growth, access, and connectivity. The focus remains on improving rural road access and ensuring every community benefits from the country’s rapid development.
“Our roads are the veins that keep this country running, connecting people to opportunities, businesses to markets, and communities to essential services,” he said, highlighting the SLPP’s dedication to infrastructure as a primary vehicle for long-term economic growth.
An Unstoppable Momentum in National Infrastructure In addition to the road achievements, the Chief Minister also outlined key plans for the next phase of infrastructure development, with a particular emphasis on critical routes such as Kabalan, Mbaya, and Kunyar roads. The government has already secured funding for additional projects, focusing on expanding the road network in rural areas where access has been historically limited.
“These roads will connect our people, fuel our economy, and bring Sierra Leone into a new era of progress,” the Chief Minister added, signaling a continued commitment to making infrastructure a cornerstone of the country’s future.
