The fourth Strand Base Organization (SBO)situated at No. 5 Waterloo Street in the Central of Freetown will be holding its carnival will held on 5th December 2025 with diverse cultural, traditional and customary display of activities from sisterly invited clubs, organizations, association and groups mainly development orientated.
In an exclusive interviews with Secretary General Harold Tholley, he said Strand Base is purely established as a community development organization with a broad membership and support from residents of all works of life. He said since the organization was formed in 2019, it has facilitated the existence of Street lights at Waterloo Street in 2023 thereby protecting shops, institutions and domiciles from lawless youths who usually break into these outlets to rob them of their properties. He said in 2024, out of the financial gains from the annual carnival, the organization in its contributions to the educational, upliftments of the young generation donated materials including pens, pencils, books and other toilet accessories to schools in the community. He said the organization also donates food and water to mosques in the community during the Holy Month of Ramadan.
Mr. Tholley said they have engaged with community youth force to surveillance the community during nocturnal hours. He said in the near future, the organization plans to assist pupils from poor homes by providing uniforms and shoes. He said unlike others, the organization faces challenges in the provisions of sufficient tables, chairs, canopy’s Banners and a PA system to embrace the numerous participants who usually turns up. He is appealing to philanthropist and community based institutions to assist in the process as maximum security is assured.
