To Enjoy His Sexual Orientation…

27 Year Old Gay Activist Escapes for His Life.

A young 27 year-old Sierra Leonean, Abdul Kamara and his gay partner  found having sex which goes against the Country norm and tradition .

Our investigations reveal that on or about 4th August, 2023 at 55 Koroma Street, Calaba Town, east of Freetown, one young man identified as Abdul and his gay partner were caught red-handed by Abdul’s girlfriend – Kadija, having sex in his bedroom. Had he locked the door, the incident could have been avoided.

Upon discovering the act which is generally frowned upon both traditionally and religiously across Sierra Leone, Abdul’s girlfriend Kadijah screamed to alert the whole community. Eye witnesses informed our reporters that in no time, many people appeared on the scene and started assaulting Abdul and his gay friend, Augustine to the point that, they received wounds and bruises all over their bodies. However, after serious beating, they managed to escape through a window, according to eye witnesses.

Residents living around a nearby port area where Abdul later surfaced, reported that they saw a young man swimming across to a point a little way farther away from the shore from where he boarded a boat which shuttles between Freetown to Lungi.

In-depth investigations by this press to uncover the whereabouts of Abdul after his brief appearance at the clinic in Lungi were futile. But it was learnt that his father sent a message to some people in Lungi to warn his son that some people who had no good intention for him were looking for him and that someone could expose his location and that he should leave for neighboring Guinea, which he did on 10th August, 2023.

He reportedly informed some eye witnesses that his life was still in danger because people of his sexual orientation are not encouraged in that country. Abdul was reportedly assisted by some kind-hearted people to flee from Guinea.

This press later gathered that Abdul  had been issued a visa before the incident together with his partner but that when they were found making love, the ensuing problems resulted to him losing his partner with whom he should have travelled.

Back home, family sources when contacted said their son could be executed secretly because of his sexual orientation since Sierra Leone government is just paying lip-service as far as international treaties regarding respect and protection of a person’s sexual rights and sexual orientation are concerned, is tacitly allowing religious, traditional and cultural fanatics to lynch anyone caught in this act. “They would simply look the other way, pretending not to know,” a sexual rights advocate told this press when questioned about the unfortunate matter concerning Abdul.

Investigations continue but this press is inclined to warn that we cannot guarantee the safety of Abdul if he is seen anywhere in Sierra Leone.
