PAC Generates Billions of Leones
The Chairman of the Public Account Committee in Parliament, Honourable Ibrahim Tawa Conteh, has on Tuesday 21st August. 2024, disclosed to the press that he and his team of Committee Members have recovered 50 billion Leones from the month of May to June 2024. This disclosure took place at the New Administrative building in Parliament, Tower Hill, Freetown.
Very recently he disclosed to Journalists that the Public Account Committee will soon recover SLE 3.4 billion Leone’s approximately US$15 million in Goods and Services Tax (GST), from defaulting companies by garnishing their accounts through the Bank of Sierra Leone (BSL).
Hon. Ibrahim Conteh had also ordered the Bank of Sierra Leone and commercial banks to freeze the accounts of companies that failed to appear before the committee to address their GST payment obligations to the National Revenue Authority (NRA).
