KKY “June 24 2024”
Recent statements by President Bio, Victor Foh and KKY have all resulted in many mimicking the SLPP, presenting the party as confused, mixing up details with fiction. Many Sierra Leoneans are wondering about what is happing with the SLPP, as its members of renown are misfiring beyond imagination.
Many believe that there does not seem to be any campaign message for the people, hence the reason for making such blunders. Citizens believe that these misfiring statements by the aforementioned members of the party, could well be a sign of jittery, and merely an attempt to gain support of the masses.
It could be recalled that His Excellency made the statement of his government having given over $40 billion to the district, a statement seen by many as overstating the contribution of the government to the district. Some supporters of the APC, in whose stronghold the President made that statement, say that it was a deliberate attempt by the President to distort the facts, as no government has ever spent $40 billion in any district. The supporters are asking the government where such an amount has been spent and what are the evidence to substantiate the use of that colossal amount.
Some descendant from Port Loko, based in the diaspora has started to call on their Paramount Chiefs to account for the use of that amount in the district, intimating that $40 billion is more than what the country can boast of.
During the meeting held at the Attugga Stadium earlier this week, Former Vice President, Victor Bockarie Foh, while making declaration for the SLPP, emphatically said that there will be “no more green”, suggesting that there is so much APC in his blood that he could not help, but display same in the said meeting, much to the chagrin of his SLPP host and party supporters.
However, some pundit believe that Victor Foh’s statement is just an example that he should not be trusted, and all his actions are simply geared towards ensuring that the ruling government not confiscate his properties in respect of unexplained wealth. They stated that his misfiring is an exposure by God of the kinds of person that he is, and that President Bio should not trust him.
In the case of Kandeh Kolleh Yumkella, the NGC Presidential Candidate in 2018, who has now formed an alliance with the ruling party, he too blundered while also addressing supporters of the Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) at the Brima Attouga Mini Stadium. He is quoted to have said that come June 24th 2024, there will be “no run-off”, a message that shocked people, as they were all speaking of the June 24th 2023 elections.
In light of the misfiring of the above speakers, many pundits say that it is a manifestation that they are not serious about what they are telling the people. Some concerned citizens are calling on the President to take time to think about his statements before speaking, as they have the potential to be otherwise construed, and that he should not whole-heartedly believe what those cross-carpeting from other parties to the SLPP say. They could all be false.
