‘’We will not declare border war on Guinea’’

The thorny Yenga border issue between Sierra Leone and Guinea is becoming a topical issue as there is no headway as of now to resolve the matter. However, Sierra Leone’s Foreign Minister and International Cooperation, Alhaji Timothy Kabba has assured Sierra Leoneans and its Guinean counterparts that Sierra Leone will not declare war on Guinea, but emphasized that Sierra Leone will use all diplomatic channels to resolve the border impasse.

He made this disclosure at the weekly press conference held at the Ministry’s Conference Room on Tuesday 1st July, 2025.

Minister Kabba expressed regret that some member states are walking away from their traditional Regional institutions-ECOWAS is not an exception. ‘’ECOWAS still remains an important body. West Africa is strategic to global peace,’’ he maintained.

Minister Kabba informed that ECOWAS has already been informed about the Yenga issue, adding that all diplomatic channels will be utilized to reach an amicably settlement.

He said President Bio as an ex-military man who will prevail on the military leaders in Mali, Burkinafaso and Niger to continue to be members of ECOWAS.
