Dr. Willette James Appointed SLBC Board Chair

Doctor Willette Princess Ransolina Oluwakemi James is a Sierra Leonean who has been appointed as Chairperson of the Board of Trustees for the Sierra Leone Broadcasting Corporation (SLBC) by President Julius Maada Bio.

This appointment is a significant move in the Sierra Leone media landscape. The President did not make any mistake by appointing her in that position, because she is the right person, with her academic qualifications being a lecturer and gender advocate in the media.

Williette has practiced as a journalist for twenty years. She got part of her training in journalism at the Sky High Magazine based in London.

She holds a Bachelor of Arts with honors degree First Class in Mass Communication, a Master of Art in Gender Studies, a master of Philosophy in Mass Communication and a Ph.D. in Communication and Media Studies, including Assistant Dean, Faculty of Communication Media and Information Studies, at Fourah Bay College, University of Sierra Leone and many more successes in the media landscape.

She is currently the Communication Manager at the National Petroleum. With all these expert qualifications and experience, she is indeed the right individual for the position and she can use her wealth of experience to transform the Sierra Leone Broadcasting Corporation in to a communication hub.

Her appearance before Parliament for interview and endorsement will no doubt be a story already told as she is expected to sail through with flying colors, according to media and social analysts.
