Mr. Edmond Alpha
Electoral Commissioner
Electoral Commission for Sierra Leone (ECSL)
Freetown, Sierra Leone
Dear Mr. Alpha,
RE: CONGRATULATIONS ON YOUR APPOINTMENT AS ELECTORAL COMMISSIONER
I write to extend my heartfelt congratulations on your appointment as Electoral Commissioner of Sierra Leone. This is a significant responsibility, and I wish you every success as you undertake this important national duty.
As you assume office, I respectfully encourage you to remain guided by the principles of impartiality, integrity, and service to the nation. The position you now hold is one that requires independence from political influence, and I believe that your foremost commitment should always be to Sierra Leone and the interests of its people. Sierra Leone must come first in all decisions and actions undertaken by the Electoral Commission.
I would also like to encourage your engagement with stakeholders within the justice sector regarding the adoption and implementation of the proposed new Constitution. In my view, constitutional reforms are essential for strengthening our democracy and ensuring broader political participation. Such reforms would also provide opportunities for citizens like myself who aspire to contest future elections, including the 2028 Presidential Election, as an independent candidate.
Furthermore, I look forward to paying a courtesy visit to your office at a mutually convenient time to discuss matters relating to democratic governance, electoral reforms, and the future of our country.
Please be assured that the people of Sierra Leone will support your leadership and the work of the Electoral Commission if you remain committed to fairness, transparency, and putting Sierra Leone first above all other interests.
Once again, congratulations on your appointment. I wish you wisdom, strength, and success in the discharge of your duties.
Yours sincerely,
Prince Jacob Macauley
