Between Dep. Speaker and Aminata & Sons…

NP, Others Exposed

 By Mohamed Kamara

A Sierra Leonean Development Economist resident in Dublin-Ireland Dr. David Ansu Moseray in an interview with this medium on Saturday June 20 2026, has said that if concessions are granted to a Company in recognition of its meritorious services to promote the economic development of a nation, its principal aim is for others to follow suit and do likewise in line of President Bio’s ideals to tolerate competition thereby improving the socio-economic well-being of the average Sierra Leoneans through  employment opportunities, investment in various sectors, ensure self-sufficiency and fulfil the trade agreement in ECOWAS countries.

Dr. Moseray said in our post-colonial era, Sierra Leone has witnessed an exodus of foreign fuel investment companies such as Agip, Mobile, Shell, and Texaco which were British and American owned companies. He said in that era, there were no well-defined laws in the area of Social Corporate Responsibility like now. He said these companies shut down leaving NP to succeed them and of late the Exodus of other locally owned fuel companies, he said, in real economies terms especially development economics, protecting local companies dubbed as protection does not limit the participation of companies beyond borders.

He said in Aminata’s case, the company outrightly merits concessions for few of the following reasons, that company has taken the financial responsibility to support the Ministry of Information and Civic Education in its drive to ensure that the citizen is informed about the work of government and given the opportunity to express his or her views whenever they thought it necessary. He said, in history, there has never been a fuel company which divides its benefit between company and government. Aminata is the first ever fuel company to avoid increase of fuel during the on-going global oil increase to supplement the domestic burden of the average Sierra Leonean during global trade inconsistencies.

He said like some develop and developing countries, there is always the tendency to create worries for other companies especially when preferences are based on performance, he said in Sierra Leone, NP, Leone Oil and many others have been in operation for many years, but indicators on the ground that Aminata has attracted public confidence if not for trade but for the humanitarian services it continues to share with mankind.
