Every institution has both strengths and weaknesses, and the Sierra Leone Police is no exception. However, within the Force are many dedicated and professional officers who work tirelessly to uphold the law, protect citizens, and promote public trust.
Among these exemplary officers are the Crime Officer at Lunsar Police Station, Mr. Nyelenkeh, and his team. Through their professionalism, commitment, and dedication to duty, they have become a shining example of effective policing and community service.
There was a time when Lunsar Town was troubled by frequent criminal activities, particularly during the night. Residents lived in fear, and many struggled to enjoy peace and security in their own homes. Since Mr. Nyelenkeh’s deployment to Lunsar as Crime Officer, however, the security situation has improved remarkably. Today, Lunsar is widely regarded as one of the most peaceful towns in the North-West Region.
Mr. Nyelenkeh possesses not only a strong understanding of police work but also the ability to engage effectively with both community members and offenders. His leadership, professionalism, and practical experience have contributed significantly to the maintenance of law and order within the township.
My admiration for his work grew during the investigation into the death of my late father. Mr. Nyelenkeh and his team of Investigating Officers, particularly Officers Kamanda and M.O., demonstrated exceptional diligence and competence throughout the investigation. They approached the matter with professionalism, carefully gathered evidence, addressed critical concerns, and worked tirelessly to ensure that justice was served.
Their commitment to fairness, accountability, and the rule of law earned my respect and appreciation. More importantly, their conduct has strengthened public confidence in the police and fostered greater trust between law enforcement and the community.
Today, many residents of Lunsar openly commend the efforts of these officers. Their work demonstrates that effective policing is not solely about enforcing the law; it is also about building trust, maintaining peace, and serving the public with integrity and respect.
Officers such as Mr. Nyelenkeh, Kamanda, and M.O. represent the very best of policing. Their dedication, professionalism, and commitment to public service should inspire others within the Sierra Leone Police Force and beyond.
A peaceful community is built on trust, professionalism, accountability, and dedicated service. The officers of Lunsar Police Station have demonstrated these values through their actions, and for that, they deserve recognition and commendation.
