PPRC Chairman Implicated

Fresh controversy has erupted over the conduct of the Political Parties Regulation Commission (PPRC) Chairman, with critics accusing him of displaying political bias and selective enforcement of political standards.

The concerns emerged after a supporter allegedly linked to the ruling Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) was seen publicly wearing party attire while reportedly making insulting and abusive remarks against former President Dr. Ernest Bai Koroma. According to critics, despite the public nature of the alleged incident, no strong action or condemnation has been issued by the PPRC.

Many citizens, particularly from the northern region, have expressed disappointment and frustration, arguing that the Commission appears quick to react when incidents involve opposition supporters but remains silent when similar actions are allegedly committed by supporters of the ruling party.

Political observers say the issue has reignited concerns about fairness, neutrality, and equal treatment in Sierra Leone’s democratic space. They argue that institutions tasked with regulating political conduct must be seen as impartial and must apply the same standards to all political actors regardless of party affiliation.

Critics further contend that maintaining public trust requires consistency, transparency, and accountability from national institutions. The growing debate has sparked calls for the PPRC to clarify its position and demonstrate that it remains committed to serving all Sierra Leoneans without political preference.

As discussions continue across communities and social media platforms, many citizens are urging the Commission to address the allegations and reassure the public that political regulations will be enforced fairly and equally for everyone.
