Major Shake Up Imminent

Reports reaching the Day Break Newspaper intimate that considering the latest cabinet reshuffle carried out by President Julius Maada Bio, a major cabinet shakeup is looming round the corner as senior cabinet ministers and some heads of state institutions will be shown the exit gate for under performance.

Political commentators say the action President Bio has just taken to replace some cabinet ministers and heads of state institutions is just the smoke or a tip of the iceberg. They further noted that President Bio had vowed that 2026 will be a year of action. However, concern citizens are calling on the President to sack more unproductive government officials who are only  in top government jobs to enrich themselves at the expense of the suffering Sierra Leoneans who are faced with harsh living conditions such as high prices of basic food stuffs, low salary which is not commensurate with the current cost of living

President Bio’s latest appointments across key government ministries and state institutions, some senior officials say it’s a move aimed at improving service delivery and delivery of national priorities. The appointments were issued in a press release by State House and signed by Secretary to the President, Barba Fortune. Though the appointments will need Parliamentary scrutiny and approval.

According to the press release it includes:

Ms. Isata Marah has been appointed Deputy Minister of Finance II.

Dr. Isata Kamanda-Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Food Security II.

Ms. Janneh Jabati has been nominated Chairperson of the Board of Trustees (NASSIT).

Mr. Chernor Jalloh takes over as Director General of NASSIT replacing Fuad Daboh.

Mr Mohamed Bangura former Minister of Sports appointed Deputy Director General of NASSIT (Admin and Finance).

Mr. Ahmid Jalloh nominated as Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Conversation Trust Fund.
