Theft at Education Ministry Two Drivers Remanded

Two drivers, Alie Kamara and Abubakarr Koroma, have been remanded to the Male Correctional Facility in Freetown by Magistrate Mustapha Brima Jah of Pademba Road Court No. 1 on two counts.

The two face charges of Conspiracy to Commit a Felony contrary to law and Larceny contrary to Section 2 of the Larceny Act 1916 

According to the Particulars of Offence, on Wednesday, 1st July 2026, at the Ministry of Education, New England Ville, Western Area, Freetown, the two defendants conspired with other persons unknown to steal one white JAC vehicle with registration number AWV 063.

Count two further alleges that on the same date and place, both defendants stole one white JAC J6 4×4 pick-up vehicle with registration number AWV 063, valued at Le 636,000, property of the Ministry of Education, while the vehicle was in the custody of Alie Kamara.

When the charges were read and explained to them, both defendants pleaded not guilty.

The prosecutor, Deputy Superintendent of Police Eric A. Deen Esq., told the court that he had served the defendants with copies of the case and inquiry file.

The defendants acknowledged receipt of the documents.

Meanwhile, Magistrate Jah refused bail citing the seriousness of the offence and ordered that the accused be remanded to the Male Correctional Facility in Freetown. 

The matter was adjourned to 20th August 2026.
