NRA Staff Welcomes New Commissioner General
The National Revenue Authority (NRA) has officially held a handing-over ceremony to mark the transition of the outgoing Commissioner General, Mrs. Jeneba J. Bangura, to the newly appointed Commissioner General, Mr. Abu Martin Kanneh; the ceremony marked an important leadership transition and a new chapter for the Authority.
The event brought together members of the NRA Board, Senior Management Team, directors, and staff of the Authority; it provided an opportunity to reflect on the achievements of the outgoing administration and outline priorities for the new leadership.
In her remarks, the outgoing Commissioner General, Mrs. Jeneba J. Bangura, expressed appreciation to the entire NRA workforce for their commitment, dedication, and support throughout her tenure; she acknowledged the collective efforts of staff in advancing the mandate of the Authority.
Mrs. Bangura formally presented a report covering the period from December 4 2023 to August 2026; the report highlighted key activities, programmes, reforms, achievements, and milestones recorded by the Authority during the period.
The Chairman of the NRA Board, Mr. Kabineh Kallon, speaking on behalf of the Board, commended Mrs. Bangura for her service and contribution to the Authority; he appreciated her leadership and wished her success in her new appointment.
The newly appointed Commissioner General, Mr. Abu Martin Kanneh, expressed gratitude to His Excellency the President Dr. Julius Maada Bio for the confidence placed in him to lead the NRA; he noted that his previous service as Commissioner of the Customs Service Department provided him with valuable experience of the Authority’s operations.
Mr. Kanneh commended Mrs. Bangura for her work and achievements; he called on staff to unite behind the new administration and work collectively to strengthen domestic revenue mobilization.
He emphasized that effective revenue collection remains critical to supporting government programmes and national development; he also stressed the need to improve the public image of the NRA, strengthen taxpayer engagement, and maximize the benefits of ongoing reforms and innovations.
The newly appointed Deputy Commissioner General 2, Ing. Edmond Benjamin Nonie, also thanked President Bio for the opportunity to serve at the NRA; he expressed his readiness to work with staff, listen, learn, and contribute to the achievement of the Authority’s mandate.
Deputy Commissioner General 1, Mrs. Ann-Marie Baby Harding, commended the outgoing leadership for its service; she welcomed the new administration and pledged her support to the Commissioner General and his deputy.
She urged staff to embrace teamwork, cooperation, and professionalism; she emphasized that the success of the Authority depends on the collective efforts of its workforce.
Speaking on behalf of the Senior Management Team, Senior Director, Dr. Philip M. Kargbo, expressed appreciation to the outgoing leadership; he reaffirmed the Senior Management Team’s commitment to working with the new administration to advance the mandate of the NRA.
The Director of Human Resources, Ms. Dora N. Tucker, also pledged her support to the new leadership; she encouraged staff to remain committed, cooperative, and focused on achieving the Authority’s strategic objectives.
The ceremony therefore marked more than a change in leadership; it reaffirmed the NRA’s commitment to continuity, institutional growth, teamwork, revenue mobilization, ongoing reforms, improved taxpayer services, and effective service delivery.
As the new administration assumes responsibility, the NRA remains committed to strengthening its role in domestic revenue mobilization and contributing to Sierra Leone’s socio-economic development.
