The Parliament of Sierra Leone have celebrated the election of Hon. Rosemarie Bangura as Vice Chairperson of the West African Regional Caucus at the Pan-African Parliament, describing the achievement as a proud moment for the nation and its legislature.
Leading the commendation, the Rt. Hon. Speaker Segepoh Solomon Thomas joined Members of Parliament in congratulating Hon. Bangura on her election to the prestigious regional position. The Speaker noted that her elevation reflects the confidence and trust reposed in Sierra Leone’s representatives at the continental level.
In his congratulatory remarks, Speaker Thomas urged Members of Parliament to take pride in the achievement, emphasizing that such accomplishments enhance the image and reputation of Sierra Leone in international parliamentary affairs.
He commended Hon. Bangura for her dedication, commitment, and exemplary service, noting that her election serves as an inspiration to other parliamentarians. The Speaker further encouraged Members to emulate her diligence and continue striving for excellence in representing the interests of Sierra Leone both nationally and internationally.
Speaker Thomas also referenced a recent fact-finding mission to South Africa aimed at assessing the performance of Sierra Leonean parliamentarians serving in international parliamentary bodies. He noted that the outstanding contributions of Members such as Hon. Rosemarie Bangura have earned recognition and respect for Sierra Leone within regional and continental institutions.
