The Sierra Leone Police Force has launched a full-scale investigation and declared a 38-year-old Freetown resident wanted following an alleged same-sex incident in Gendema town that resulted in the death of another woman.
According to an official police investigation report issued by the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) at the Kenema Police Station, the suspect, identified as Agatha Lamin of No. 49 College Road, Goderich, Freetown, is currently on the run.
The matter was brought to the attention of the authorities on Wednesday, June 4, 2025, when angry local youths from the Gendema community reported a case of same-sex conduct, citing it as an act likely to cause a breach of the peace. Following the report, a team of CID officers from the Kenema Police Station, led by Assistant Superintendent John B. Kamara, dispatched to the scene in Gendema town.
Upon their arrival, police discovered that one of the women involved, identified as Fatima, had passed away during the incident, while Lamin had already fled the area.
The police report invokes Section 61 of the Sierra Leone Offences Against the Person Act of 1861, stating that authorities are treating the matter with utmost seriousness as a criminal offense under state law. Authorities have reiterated that same-sex intimacy remains forbidden and legally actionable under current statutes.

Investigating officer Senior Inspector Amos Conteh of the Media and Public Relations Unit confirmed that security measures have been recommended to track down the suspect. The Sierra Leone Police Force has appealed to the public for information regarding the whereabouts of Agatha Lamin, offering a handsome financial reward for any details that successfully lead to her arrest. Anyone with relevant information is urged to contact the Kenema Police Station or the nearest local police authority immediately.
