A heated exchange went live on AYV Television between Hon. Alhaji Alpha Khan, Presidential Spokesman for President Julius Maada Bio, and the APC Chief Whip in Parliament.
According to Alpha Khan the reason for forming the NRM is because they need the young people to take charge in the APC.
Responding, the APC Chief Whip said to Hon. Khan that the motive behind the NRM was to destabilise the APC because he (Alpha Khan) had selfish motives, but that didn’t work. He advised the Presidential Spokesman to use his ‘’Take that energy by telling the President that things are not going well in the country,” the APC Chief Whip advised Alpha Khan.
The Chief Whip urged the President’s Spokesman to direct his advocacy toward governance challenges under the Bio administration instead of APC internal matters.
The clash heated argument between the duos amplified concerns already circulating among some APC members. According to some APC supporters Khan left the APC to protect his personal path and investments in Sierra Leone, following disagreements with senior APC figures, including former President Ernest Bai Koroma, over positions he sought but did not receive.
Critics also argue that his current role as Presidential Spokesman for President Julius Maada Bio means he is now presenting the APC in a negative light. Some have labeled him a “political prostitute” — a term used to describe moving between political parties for perceived selfish gain.
“He left APC when he did not get what he wanted. Now, as President Bio’s Spokesman, he is on AYV telling APC how to reform. Some of us see it as portraying the party’s image in bad light.”
Khan maintains that the APC NRM is about generational change and youth leadership, not sabotage. He says strong parties make a strong democracy.
