Hon. Mohamed Papa Bangura Urges Young Footballers to Shun Drugs

Hon. Mohamed Papa Bangura, Member of Parliament for Constituency 036, has advised aspiring footballers to completely avoid drugs such as Kush and Tramadol, describing them as a direct path to health destruction and death.
The MP made the statement while serving as Guest of Honour at the grand final of the maiden Climax New London Youth Football Tournament.
Speaking at the event, Hon. Bangura said: “Today, we have witnessed a match between two equals. In my days as a commentator, this is how I would describe games like this.”
He praised both teams for their outstanding performance. Mathinka Rangers emerged champions after defeating All Stars F.C. 5-4 on penalties.
Hon. Bangura also expressed optimism about the future of football in the Bombali District.
“This performance gives hope that potential players are coming who might play for Wusum Stars, so we will stop struggling for survival in the country’s top flight league”.
Assistant chairman of Wusum stars Football Club officially presented the trophy to the champions.
S\Leone to Face Five Nations in Epic U-19 Men’s Cricket World Cup Division 2 Africa Qualifier
Sierra Leone is gearing up to put on a show at the Rwanda ICC Under-19 Men’s Cricket World Cup Division 2 Africa Qualifier, scheduled for August 9 – 15 August 2026.
The week-long race will bring together six nations: Uganda, Mozambique, Nigeria, Ghana, Sierra Leone, and host Rwanda.
The top three teams will advance from the Africa Division 2 regional qualifier to the Africa Division Men’s Qualification.
On Sunday August 8, Sierra Leone will open the Kigali showpiece against West African rival Ghana before facing host Rwanda the next.
In 2009, Sierra Leone successfully qualified for the global World Cup show held in Toronto, Canada from September 1 to September 13, 2009, after an impressive run at the ICC Africa Under-19 Championships in Zambia. However, visa restrictions barred the country from displaying its talents.
