Speaking during the Government’s Weekly Press Conference hosted by the Minister of Information and Civic Education, Chernor Bah, at the Miatta Civic Centre on Tuesday, Dr. Sengeh said the summit delivered landmark decisions that will strengthen regional integration, democratic governance, energy cooperation, security, and economic development.

He noted that the summit recorded one of the highest levels of participation in recent ECOWAS history, with several heads of state and vice presidents remaining throughout the proceedings, demonstrating renewed commitment to regional cooperation.
Among the key outcomes, the Chief Minister highlighted the signing of an agreement advancing the African Atlantic Gas Pipeline project, describing it as a transformational initiative that will expand regional energy access and accelerate economic development across West Africa.
Dr. Sengeh also pointed to the adoption of the Presidential Declaration on advancing gender parity in political representation within ECOWAS, saying it reinforces the region’s commitment to promoting women’s participation in leadership and decision-making.
He further disclosed that leaders adopted a Declaration of Commitment on the Future of Regional Integration, reflecting President Julius Maada Bio’s priorities as Chair of the ECOWAS Authority of Heads of State and Government to deepen cooperation among member states.
The Chief Minister said another major milestone was the commissioning of the ECOWAS Regional Logistics Depot, which will strengthen the bloc’s capacity to respond rapidly to security, humanitarian, and public health emergencies across the region.
On Sierra Leone’s direct gains, Dr. Sengeh highlighted the country’s successful hosting of the summit, the enhanced international profile of the Julius Maada Bio International Conference Centre, expanded hotel infrastructure, and increased opportunities for tourism, investment, and private sector growth.
“The ECOWAS Regional Logistics Depot will enable the bloc to rapidly deploy military, health, and other logistics whenever intervention is required.” he said.
He also welcomed the appointment of Sierra Leonean diplomat Miatta Lily French as ECOWAS Commissioner for Political Affairs, Peace and Security, describing it as a recognition of Sierra Leone’s leadership and contribution to regional peacebuilding.

According to Dr. Sengeh, the summit also created opportunities for increased investment, citing commitments by leading African investors to support regional economic transformation.
He concluded by commending President Julius Maada Bio’s leadership of ECOWAS and praised the collective efforts of government institutions, security agencies, and citizens whose contributions ensured the successful hosting of the summit.
