It now one year since Babadi Kamara was voted for to take the leadership at the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA). According to football stakeholders they say the SLFA boss achievements include:Constituted a Transition Committee to undertake a comprehensive assessment of the state of the Sierra Leone Football Association, which revealed that only US$13,000 of the US$216,000 approved by FIFA had been utilized for the procurement of office furniture;Secured a five-storey building to serve as the new SLFA Secretariat, while repositioning the Football Academy facilities to function as a Technical Centre;Increased annual regional subventions from US$15,000 to US$50,000.;Restored international football to Sierra Leone after a five-year absence, with Leone Stars defeating Liberia 1-0 in Bo; Guided Sierra Leone to the WAFU U-17 Girls’ trophy in Liberia;Secured a sponsorship of US$180,000 from Leone Rock for the 2025/26 Premier League;Secured the first-ever title sponsorship for the Women’s Premier League through a landmark US$150,000 partnership with Marampa Mines Limited; Secured an unprecedented sponsorship of NLe 2,828,352 from Orange Sierra Leone for the 2026 FA Cup; Upgraded the SLFA Secretariat through the construction of an extended perimeter fence, paving works, and an improved drainage system to protect the artificial turf from flooding; Organised the inaugural Men’s and Women’s Unity Cup competitions as curtain-raisers to the 2025/26 football season; Personally donated a 435-seat pavilion, valued at US$250,000, currently under construction at the SLFA Football Academy, Kingtom; Donated US$70,000 towards the construction of the Wusum Field perimeter fence, with an additional US$5,000 payable upon completion; Increased female representation within the Secretariat more than any previous administration, in furtherance of the objectives of the Gender Equality and Women’s Empowerment (GEWE) Act;Appointed the Association’s first Women’s Football Manager and established the first-ever Women’s Football Department;Developed the SLFA’s first Women’s Football Strategy set to be launched in September; Secured US$100,000 from FIFA under the League Development Programme; Established the Association’s first Safeguarding Department and appointed its inaugural Safeguarding Manager and Officer; Settled over US$250,000 in inherited debts and liabilities; Successfully hosted the WAFU Zone A Competitions Management Workshop and Medical Workshop in Freetown;Organised CAF/FIFA Licence D, C and B coaching courses for over 100 coaches nationwide, including Sierra Leone’s first FIFA Elite Goalkeeping Coaching Course; Awarded coaching scholarships to female coaches to develop women’s technical capacity; Strengthened football governance by ensuring the timely and efficient administration of justice through the Association’s Judicial Bodies and Standing Committees; Launched the Talent Development Scheme to strengthen youth player identification and development; Conducted nationwide training programmes for referees on integrity, the Laws of the Game and officiating standards, resulting in increased international appointments; Executed a Memorandum of Understanding with the National Olympic Committee to strengthen anti-doping implementation in Sierra Leone; Developed a new official SLFA website, scheduled for launch on 3 August 2026; Organised the Association’s first nationwide Regional Engagements with delegates and successfully hosted the Ordinary Congress in Bo during the administration’s first year in office and Facilitated the broadcast of Leone Rock Premier League matches on the FIFA+ platform.
