Land Dispute Matter Between Pastor Joe Kai And Turay Family Adjourned

The Chairman for Mile 38 Local Court No. 4, Chief Sampha Bangura has adjourned a sensitive land matter between the complainant, Pastor Joe Kai versus members of the Turay family, the respondents in the matter were in full attendance, they comprised, the section Chief for Rowal Village, Roponka Section in Port Loko District, Chief Pa Alhaji Turay, Pa Momoh Turay, Ya Mbora Turay and Ibrahim Turay.

The well attended matter which marked the preliminary hearing session was witnessed by the court clerk, members of the Court Barry, witnesses, other distinguished chiefdom, section stakeholders and concerned citizens was held at the Chairman’s jam-packed Court Barry at Koya Chiefdom, Mile 38 community at the above mentioned District on Tuesday, 5th May, 2026.

As the complainant in this public interest case, Pastor Joe Kai absolutely failed to show up at the commencement or beginning of the heated Rowal Village land conflict arrangements, members of the Turay family unanimously requested the Chairman to use all his power and influence as first gentleman of the chiefdom in making sure that the complainant appears in court at the next adjournment date to fast track proceedings without delay. A request the Court Chairman endorsed, leading to the postponement of the session to next week Thursday.

Speaking to court attendees prior to the issuance of adjournment date, the learned Chairman, Chief Sampha Bangura invoked the presence of Allah/God and prayed for peace, unity and love to continue reigning with tangible development at the part of Sierra Leone.

“We have only one Koya Chiefdom which belongs to everyone of us”, the Chairman remarked and further offered a special prayer on good health and long life for the Paramount Chief whom he described as (Chiefdom Father), PC Kompa Bombali.

Chairman Bangura spoke on the need to strengthen unity collaboratively for the general good of the chiefdom and country as a whole. He emphasized on the essence of truth and equality to prevail on the land for peaceful co-existent.

Chairman Bangura also discussed that “I am seated here to settle disputes, discouraging malice, guaranteeing and protecting your natural rights under the firm supervision of the Government of Sierra Leone (GoSL), through the Ministry of Local Government and lined institutions”.

The Chairman also notified listeners that it was agreed that the land should be flagged before the beginning of the matter to avoid contempt of court and conflict of interest. The flags have been erected on the conflicted large acres of land, located at Rowal Village as demanded by both parties.
