A three-day capacity-building programme is scheduled for July 6, 7 and 13, 2026, at the OlympAfrica Centre in Goderich, Freetown. It forms part of the committee’s ongoing efforts to strengthen the institutional capacity of sports organizations in Sierra Leone.

The initiative seeks to equip sports administrators and executives with modern management skills that will enable them to effectively lead their organizations in line with internationally accepted governance standards. As the sports sector continues to evolve, the need for competent administrators with expertise in strategic planning, financial management, safeguarding, organizational development and stakeholder engagement has become increasingly important.
According to the NOC/CGA-SL, the training programme has been carefully designed to improve the administrative and governance capacities of National Sports Organizations while promoting professionalism, accountability and sustainable development within the country’s sporting movement.
Participants will receive practical knowledge and hands-on tools to improve governance structures and operational effectiveness within their respective organizations. The sessions will also focus on strengthening strategic planning and decision-making processes, promoting accountability and transparency in financial management, and ensuring compliance with internationally recognized governance standards.
Additionally, the programme will address leadership development, organizational growth and collaboration among member associations, with the objective of building stronger institutions capable of delivering quality sports programmes and achieving long-term success.
The NOC/CGA-SL believes that effective sports governance is fundamental to the growth of sport and the development of athletes. By investing in the capacity of sports administrators, the committee aims to create more efficient, transparent and accountable organizations that can better serve athletes, stakeholders and the wider sporting community.
To ensure broad participation, each National Sports Association has been requested to nominate one executive member to attend the training. The selected representatives are expected to transfer the knowledge and best practices acquired during the programme to their respective organizations, thereby strengthening governance and management across the national sports landscape.
The Sports Management Training Programme underscores the NOC/CGA-SL’s continued commitment to promoting excellence, good governance and institutional development, while supporting the professionalization of sports administration in Sierra Leone.
