The President of the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA), Babadi Kamara, has hosted a press conference at the Brookfields Hotel Conference Hall in Freetown to commemorate his first year in office, reflecting on the achievements of his administration and outlining an ambitious vision for the future of football in Sierra Leone.
Addressing journalists, football stakeholders, and members of the Executive Committee, President Kamara described the past twelve months as a period of unprecedented
progress driven by teamwork, transparency, and unwavering commitment to the development of the game. He paid tribute to the Executive Committee, the SLFA Secretariat, regional football associations, clubs, partners, government and the wider football family for their support throughout the journey.
President Kamara highlighted several landmark achievements recorded during his first year, including major investments in football infrastructure, the successful hosting of what he described as the Association’s best ever Ordinary Congress, enhanced governance and stakeholder engagement, increased support for women’s football, improvements in competitions, and strategic initiatives aimed at strengthening grassroots football across the country. He noted that these accomplishments reflect the collective determination to reposition Sierra Leone football on a solid foundation.
Looking ahead, the SLFA President reaffirmed his administration’s resolve to sustain the momentum by delivering more infrastructure projects, strengthening partnerships, and improving the performance of Sierra Leone’s national teams. He assured the football community that the Association remains focused on building a modern, inclusive, and successful football ecosystem for present and future generations.
As part of the occasion, President Kamara officially launched the new SLFA website, describing it as a significant step towards improving communication, transparency, and digital engagement with football stakeholders. He said the platform will serve as the Association’s primary source of official information and further strengthen its connection with football fans both at home and abroad.
The commemorative press conference concluded with President Kamara expressing gratitude to the football family for their confidence in his leadership, while reaffirming his pledge to continue working tirelessly with his Executive Committee to deliver lasting transformation for Sierra Leone football.
