Petrol and diesel prices have gone up across Sierra Leone again taking effect from Monday, 3 August 2026, the Ministry of Information and Civic Education has said.
Following a review of the petroleum pricing formula by the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Trade and Industry and Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs), the new pump prices are:
Petrol: NLe35.00 per litre (up from NLe33.00). The government is providing a subsidy of NLe2.11 per litre.
Diesel: NLe40.00 per litre (up from NLe35.00). According to the Government of Sierra Leone it is providing a subsidy of NLe3.04 per litre.
Officials said the adjustment reflects changes in international fuel prices and the exchange rate, while ensuring that fuel subsidies remain sustainable. However, past weekend global market prices indicate that prices for petroleum products went down by 8%.
Nonetheless, the Ministry further noted that if international fuel prices decline, future price adjustments will reflect those changes.
According to the Ministry of Information and Civic Education, petroleum prices will continue to be reviewed regularly adjustment of petroleum prices will be undertaken as and when it is necessary.
