The West African Tax Administration Forum (WATAF) is holding its 23rd General Assembly in Accra, Ghana, as part of the 8th High-Level Policy Dialogue, from September 15–19, 2026.
The gathering brings together Commissioners-General, senior tax officials, finance authorities, policymakers, development partners and other stakeholders from across the region to discuss ways of strengthening tax administrations, improving domestic revenue mobilisation and supporting sustainable development.
The 23rd General Assembly also marks WATAF 15th anniversary, hence, participants emphasized stronger regional cooperation and integration to address common challenges, including illicit financial flows, cross-border tax avoidance, digital taxation and information sharing.
The meeting provides an opportunity for West African tax administrations to exchange experiences, strengthen partnerships and develop practical strategies for mobilising the domestic resources needed to finance the region’s development.
Sierra Leone is a crucial member of WATAF is committed in strengthening its tax administration, improving on the regional cooperation and benefits from the capacity building opportunities.
