SLPHA’s Management Eyes Premier League Trophy
Ahead of the 2026-2027 Leone Rock Premier League season, the Executive of the Sierra Leone Ports and Harbours Authority Football Club (SLPHA FC) has met with the club’s technical team to assess its readiness and set expectations for the new football season. The meeting, held on Monday 5th October 2026, provided an opportunity for the Club’s Executive and technical team to openly review the team’s performance during the 2025-2026 season, identify lapses and agree on way forward.
Chairman of the Club, Abubakarr Kamara, Esq. described the meeting as a frank talk session, urging members of the technical team and the executive to identify the shortcoming that contributed to the team’s performance in the previous season. With SLPHA FC finishing sixth (6th) in the Leone Rock Premier League last season, Chairman Kamara noted Management’s dissatisfaction with the outcome, particularly given that the team had been in a strong position to win the league title after fifteen (15) years. He stressed that while the team did not suffer relegation, its final position does not reflect the level of investment made by the Ports Management. “We did not relegate but the outcome was not as favorable as our expenditure,” Kamara told the technical team.
The Club’s Chairman further reminded the technical team that the Management of SLPHA, headed by the ever-supportive Director General Mr. Yankuba Askia Bio, has provided all necessary support, including players and other resources requested for ahead of the new season, in its continued effort to strengthen the Club and support its quest for the Premier League trophy. “We [Management] will not relent in our support to the Club but we will equally not accept anything other than winning the Premier League this season,” Abubakarr Kamara, Esq. charged. He urged the technical team to do everything professionally possible to deliver a victorious season, while stressing the importance of building a strong relationship and bonding well with the players.
Responding, Head Coach of the Sierra Leone Ports and Harbours Authority Football Club, Hassan Miller Sesay, assured the Club Chairman and executive that the technical team and players shall put their best to play in quest for the title. “We let the trophy slip away from our hands as we missed it by a whisker. We have learnt from our mistakes and will do better. This we promise,” Sesay told the executive. He thanked the Club executive and the SLPHA Director General, Yankuba Askia Bio, and Management for the continued support and concern for the Club. “This time around, your efforts, time and resources will not go in vain. The ‘Waterfront Boyz’ are determined, and so are we the technical team,” Hassan Miller Sesay assured.
The meeting comes as SLPHA’s FC prepares for its opening fixture for the 2026-2027 Leone Rock Premier League Season, with the ‘Water Front Boyz’ set to face East End Lions Football Club on Sunday 11th October, 2026 at the Trade Center. Hopes are high and so is the morale for the new season.
