HRMO DG Applauds Inter-MDAs Competition

The Director-General of the Human Resource Management Office (HRMO), Dr. Ansu Samuel Tucker, has declared his institution’s readiness to compete for the trophy in the second edition of the Inter-MDA Competition, describing the event as an important platform for promoting unity, teamwork and healthy competition among public servants.

Speaking in an interview ahead of the competition, Dr. Tucker revealed that this will be the HRMO’s first participation, having missed the inaugural edition due to late registration.

He described the initiative as both interesting and innovative, emphasising its role in promoting work-life balance. According to him, the competition gives staff of different Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) a valuable opportunity to interact, socialise and build relationships beyond their professional duties.

Dr. Tucker confirmed that the HRMO will compete in both football and volleyball, adding that preparations are underway to secure the necessary logistics for the team. Although he may not necessarily play, he pledged to be around to motivate and encourage his players, drawing on his experience as a former footballer.

“We are coming into this competition to compete, not just to participate,” he stated, making the HRMO’s ambition to challenge for the ultimate prize clear.

The HRMO boss also commended the Minister of Sports and the National Sports Authority (NSA) for the initiative, while calling on all participating institutions to uphold discipline, respect and sportsmanship throughout the tournament.

He warned against fielding players who do not belong to the respective MDAs, confronting referees and treating matches as a do-or-die affair. He further reminded players that the competition should be enjoyed responsibly, as they would be expected to return to their normal duties after the matches.

Dr. Tucker concluded by wishing all participating MDAs success in both the football and volleyball competitions, urging teams to compete fairly and embrace the true spirit of friendship, unity and healthy rivalry.
