SLFA wishes to inform the public that Sierra Leone’s home fixture against the Democratic Republic of Congo (DR Congo) in the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) Qualifiers will be played in Morocco on Tuesday 17 November, 2026.
According to SLFA, it tried to explore the possibility of hosting the match in Guinea or Liberia to enable Sierra Leoneans to witness the fixture and support the players. However, Guinea was unable to host the match due to conflicting schedule involving its national U8nder 23 Team, while Liberia also had a fixture at its stadium on the same date.
Nonetheless, SLFA approached CAF to reschedule the match to 16 November, 2026. However, DR Congo did not agree to the proposal.
SLFA regrets the match could not be hosted closer to home. It apologizes for any inconvenience this may have caused for football fans.
