Sierra Leone’s leading Telecommunication network, Africell-SL, at a ceremony held at its Wilberforce headquarters on 19th January 2024, certified twelve students on Digitalized Web Design and creating and online experience that is seamless.

Giving an overview of the Africell Impact Foundation, Director of Customer Relation and an Associate of Africell Impact Foundation program, Kippy Debs, stated that the foundation was established in 2022 and is a way of optimizing their social impact in Sierra Leone and elsewhere, adding that the impact foundation has employed over six hundred employees and promoted over thirty artists and have implemented twenty plus projects in Sierra Leone. She disclosed that over one thousand students have been reached, stressing that the foundation is founded in the following pillars: education and entrepreneurship, art, culture and heritage, health, sports and wellbeing. She furthered that those that took part in the Africell Marathon were also part of the impact foundation, and that this venture will continue on an annual basis. She explained that they have completed an E- learning center and a Gym at the Lumley beach and are supporting the beach Volleyball foundation. She concluded by encouraging the graduates to make good use of what they have learnt.

In his statement, the Chief Corporate Affairs Officer, Joe Abass Bangura, asserted that the market space is no longer in one environment or area, but that a lot more is achieved online than offline. He also said that millions of subscribers will never see the inside of the Africell building, because they are able to access everything online, and acquiring this web design training is super valuable, disclosing that participants spent twelve weeks in the classroom. He maintained that 200 students were shortlisted and 100 were interviewed, and among the 100, twenty were selected, but sixteen showed up and twelve graduated. He added that these students have benefited from this online courses, which took place at Wilkinson Road, Africell E- Learning facility, furthering that the modules included: Introduction to HTML and Responsive Web design base, HTML document structure, Texting, Formatting and image symmetry, as well as hosting of website. The training, he furthered, included both theoretical and practical skills, opening an endless opportunity for their development. He concluded that technology is the future and we must fight hard to meet the shifting paradigm of technology in the world.
