Demonstrating his continued commitment to grassroots development and youth empowerment, Freetown Urban mayoral aspirant, Hans P.D.F. Doherty, Wednesday, 23rd July 2026, donated a total of NLe20,000 to two community-based groups in support of youth engagement and local development initiatives.
The donations reflect Doherty’s vision of people-centered leadership, emphasizing practical support for community organizations that contribute to social progress and civic participation in Sports.
Speaking during the presentation, Doherty underscored the importance of empowering young people, describing them as the driving force behind the future of both the All People’s Congress (APC) and Sierra Leone, also noting that their energy, commitment, and dedication remain essential to building a stronger and more inclusive society.
In a separate presentation, the Mayoral aspirant also donated NLe10,000 to Congo Town Community FC, reaffirming his belief in the transformative role of sports in community development. He emphasized that football and other sporting activities help promote unity, discipline, teamwork, and provide young people with positive opportunities to develop their talents.
Members of both beneficiary groups expressed appreciation for the timely support, describing the donations as a meaningful contribution that would assist their ongoing activities and inspire greater community participation. They also reaffirmed their continued support to Hans P.D.F. Doherty to not only get the APC’s Mayoral symbol but also to be Freetown’s next Mayor.
